In 1995 Ristar was the Sega's answer to a string of successful Sonic the Hedgehog titles. By 1995 though the 16-Bit era was coming to an end and gamers were more willing than ever to invest in newer machines such a Sony Playstation or a Sega Saturn. Unfortunately many gamers of the 90's will have missed out on this absolute gem of a game. Baring in mind that Resident Evil was out in early 2006 and people had already gone polygon crazy for games such as Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA it seemed like 2D gaming had gone. The nice thing about being a retro gamer though is that you can pick up a game like Ristar and still appreciate the attention to detail in graphics, sound design and gameplay. Some games simply don't age; Ristar is one of those that fall in to that very special category.
